The Quarantine Act (“the Act”) gives the President the power to declare a disease as a “dangerous infectious disease”, the President may also make regulations to prevent the spread of an infectious disease within and outside Nigeria.
Further to those powers granted to the President by the Act, the COVID-19 Regulations 2020 (“The Regulations”) was enacted on March 30, 2020 to manage and curb further spread of the coronavirus (“COVID-19” or “the Virus”) to other states.
As the central coordinating body of Nigeria’s response to the pandemic and further to the Regulations, The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 issued the Implementation Guidance for Lockdown Policy (“the Guidelines”).
We provide hereunder an overview and practical recommendations for the implementation and compliance with the Regulations.
