As we conclude the vibrant journey of 2023, Hamu Legal extends heartfelt gratitude for being part of our remarkable year. Your support and engagement have been instrumental in our success and triumphs in 2023.
This year, we celebrated 5 years of shaking things up–not just in courtrooms, but in the whole legal ecosystem.
Our year was marked by remarkable achievements in the legal realm. We secured and closed out on transactions,across our several practices government and regulatory compliance, emerging technology, property, corporate and also our growing dispute resolution team. Till date, Hamu Legal has closed over 2,468 instructions from diverse clients .
This year also marked Hamu Legal’s 5th Anniversary. Five years ago, we set out to “do different,” not just in the courtroom, but in the very fabric of the legal world. 2023 saw that vision blossom further. We, for example, hosted the Hamu Legal Round Table on the Electoral Act 2022 which ignited crucial conversations about democracy and technology. We also took the stage at WIDEF’s Raypower programme and the ECA-AfriConEU Bootcamp, championing the cause of digital rights in a world increasingly reliant on technology. From contributing to the Digital Nigeria Conference and the Africa Tech Summit to participating in WIDEF’s Roundtable Consultation with Civil Society and attending the Cybercrime Amendment Bill public hearing, Hamu Legal played a pivotal role in shaping national and regional dialogues around critical legal issues.
Across our team, we welcomed 3 new associates, each bringing their unique talents and perspectives, enriching our expertise to serve our clients better . Two legal interns learned at the feet of legal veterans, forging their path in the world of law. We also celebrated our very first Hamu Legal wedding—congratulations, Yewande Meroyi—and another associate, Mary Martins, successfully completed her LLM in International Commercial Law at Nottingham Trent University, UK!
Our 2024 Verdict
Looking ahead to 2024, our focus remains steadfast on pivotal industries like Emerging Tech, Finance, Regulatory, Health, IP & Privacy, and the exploration of the intersection between technology and elections.
We’ll also fortify our team so we can serve our clients better and foster innovative legal solutions.In 2024, we’re also relaunching our Legal Fellowship Programme in commitment to our mission of nurturing tomorrow’s lawyers and providing a platform for growth and mentorship.
